As someone just starting out in the coaching space, choosing the right tools to create MilestoneHub felt overwhelming. After extensive research and hands-on testing, we ended up deciding to build MilestoneHub using Wix.com. Here's my detailed review after several months of using the platform to establish our brand.
Our Wix Review: Getting Started
Wix immediately stood out for its beginner-friendly approach. The platform offers two main paths: Wix ADI (Artificial Design Intelligence) that builds a site for you based on questions, and the Wix Editor for more hands-on customization.
The onboarding process asked relevant questions about my coaching niche, target audience, and desired features. Within minutes, I had a functional website foundation that I could refine rather than starting from scratch.
As a new coach focused on building my business rather than learning web design, I appreciated having both options but ultimately went the Editor route for more advanced customization.
Design and Customization: Building our Brand
Templates and Themes
Wix offers numerous templates specifically designed for coaches, consultants, and service-based businesses. The coaching templates included sections I needed: about pages, service descriptions, testimonial areas, and contact forms. However, many templates felt generic, requiring significant customization to reflect our unique brand.
Visual Editor Experience
The drag-and-drop editor is intuitive but can occasionally be frustrating for precise positioning. Elements sometimes snap to unexpected locations, and maintaining consistency across pages requires attention to detail. The learning curve isn't steep, but achieving a truly professional look takes time and patience, something I have plenty of when it comes to visual design.
Mobile Responsiveness
While Wix automatically creates mobile versions, they often require extensive manual adjustments. Text that looked perfect on desktop would be cramped on mobile, and carefully positioned elements would overlap. For a coaching business where many clients browse on phones, this demanded some additional work to take into consideration before going live with your website.
Essential Features for Coaching Businesses
Booking and Scheduling
Wix's built-in booking system is adequate for basic needs. Clients can schedule discovery calls and coaching sessions directly through the website. The calendar integration works smoothly, and automated confirmations reduce administrative overhead. However, the system lacks advanced features like intake forms, package booking, or complex scheduling rules that established coaches might need. Those are not features that many coaches will need to start their business but is worth considering if your ambitions might eventually require these.
Client Management
The basic CRM functionality helps track inquiries and client information, but it's limited compared to dedicated coaching platforms. For MilestoneHub's early stage, it suffices, but I anticipate needing a more robust solution as the business grows.
Payment Processing
Wix Payments looks pretty straightforward, allowing you to accept payments for coaching packages directly through the website. Transaction fees are competitive, and the process is secure. The ability to create payment plans was particularly valuable for higher-priced coaching programs.
Blog and Content Marketing
The blogging platform is solid for content marketing efforts. SEO tools help optimize posts for search engines, which is crucial for attracting organic traffic.
Performance and Technical Aspects
Loading Speed
Website speed is acceptable but not exceptional. Some pages with multiple images or embedded videos load slowly, which could impact user experience and SEO rankings. For a coaching business where first impressions matter, this is concerning but can be mitigated by designing your pages with consideration for load time and keeping heavy elements like images and videos or use of interactive elements to a minimum.
SEO Capabilities
Wix has significantly improved its SEO features over the years. Meta descriptions, alt tags, and URL customization are all manageable through the interface. However, the platform still has limitations compared to what you can get with WordPress extensions for advanced SEO optimization and keyword selection.
Analytics and Tracking
Google Analytics integration is straightforward, and Wix provides its own analytics dashboard. For understanding visitor behaviour and conversion rates, the data is sufficient for a new coaching business, though more advanced tracking requires additional setup.

Pricing Analysis for New Coaches
For MilestoneHub's launch, the core plan (CAD $27/Month) provided the best balance of features to cost ratio and allows us to explore features we intend to use in the future while staying on budget.

The light option could likely suffice for most individual coaches just looking for a nice website. Check out Wix.com to see pricing in your country and see the complete list of features available with each plan. Our Wix review is not sponsored, just real experience.
Customer Support Experience
Wix offers multiple support channels: help center, tutorials, and phone support for premium plans. I haven’t personally had to contact support as the help documentation is comprehensive but other reviews seem to indicate that the response time is good.
Limitations and Frustrations
Template Lock-in
Once you choose a template, you cannot switch to another without rebuilding your entire site. This limitation became apparent as MilestoneHub's needs evolved, requiring workarounds rather than clean solutions.
Backup and Portability
Moving away from Wix later would require rebuilding the entire website elsewhere. There's no export functionality that preserves design and content, creating vendor lock-in concerns.
Ideal Use Cases for Coaches
Wix works best for:
New coaches needing a professional website quickly
Solo practitioners with straightforward service offerings
Coaches focusing on local or niche markets
Those prioritizing ease of use
Wix may not suit:
Coaches needing complex client portals
Businesses requiring extensive e-commerce functionality
Those planning significant website customization
Coaches who prioritize website speed and advanced SEO

Final Verdict: 8/10
Wix successfully launched MilestoneHub and provided the foundation needed to start acquiring clients. The platform excels at getting coaches online quickly with a professional appearance. However, limitations in customization, mobile optimization, and scalability mean it's likely a stepping stone rather than a permanent solution.
For new coaches prioritizing speed to market over extensive customization, Wix delivers. The key is understanding its limitations from the start and planning accordingly. As MilestoneHub grows, we can evaluate a new path forward if necessary, but Wix has served its purpose well so far and I expect it will continue to do so for years to come.
